Caleb is 3 weeks old!
Today is Caleb’s 3 week old birthday. I can hardly believe it has been 3 weeks since the day he was born into this world! We went to the pediatrician this past tuesday for his first check up with the doctor and he weighed in at 11 lbs 8 oz! He also grew an inch–he’s now 22.5 inches long. He’s such a big dude. I feel like we never had that “aw he’s so small and delicate” stage with Caleb. Oh well.
Recovery from laboring and birthing Caleb into this world has been relatively easy. I had images of horror when it came to recovering from labor that did not come true, thank the good lord. Though the lack of sleep and new routine are taking it’s toll on my stamina and emotional strength at times my physical body is on the path towards normalcy again. Not having the belly anymore is a true blessing and i’m glad to be rid of it. Having my feet back again is also wonderful. I had almost given up on ever wearing real shoes again and began doubting that my feet ever fit into the ones i had sitting lonely in the bottom of my closet. But alas, the swelling has subsided and i can see the bones in my feet again and i am reminded that i do indeed have ankles.
Jon and I are doing fairly well getting used to this big, new change in our lives. I’m impressed with us. Jon’s taken on his new role as DaD and embraced it. this warms my heart and makes me feel like i love him even more. And I’m feeling lots of support and encouragement as I am getting used to and figuring out how to be me as a MOM. Thank you to everyone who has cooked us meals, come and hung out with us and Caleb and been so happy and excited to meet him. We are feeling truly blessed by the many friends and family who have shown up these last few weeks to support us.
Here’s some new images of Caleb that have been taken these last few weeks. He’s already changing so much. Right now he’s in that awkward baby acne/rash phase. Poor thing.

Oh, Holly, you and Jonathan are doing great as new parents! And darling Caleb is doing so well too. It was so wonderful to read your take on being a new Mom. The Lord is truly showing His blessings to you. And so I praise Him and give Him thanks. I can’t wait to see you all in a couple weeks! Caleb will probably be even bigger! Ha.
Love and blessings,
